Behind every mug, bowl, and plate lies a long process of shaping, drying, firing, and decorating, all carried out by hand in my pottery studio in Provence, France.\r\n\r\nIn this category, I share the different stages involved in making my stoneware pottery and handmade tableware. You'll discover my slab-building techniques, high-fired stoneware process, cobalt blue pencil decorations, and the challenges of creating ceramics designed for everyday use.\r\n\r\nI enjoy showing the reality of contemporary craftsmanship: a living, imperfect, and hands-on approach. These articles go beyond finished objects and explore everything that happens before a handmade ceramic piece finds its place in a kitchen or on a dining table.\r\n\r\nThey also help explain why stoneware is particularly well suited to durable handmade tableware. Fired at very high temperatures, it offers excellent strength for daily use, repeated washing, and dishwasher use while preserving the character and warmth of handcrafted ceramics.\r\n\r\nDecoration plays an important role in my studio as well. The hand-drawn stripes, checks, and graphic motifs give each piece its own personality.
